TP router…again !

I’m very IT stupid! Trying to connect TP router to hub with earthnet cable. Can’t even get it to connect to the internet to even try setting it up. As if the hub is blocking the internet….any simple guidance please?

Log into hub and put it into modem mode. Now connect your router and reboot it. Come back here if it doesn't work.

Open your browser & put in address 192.168.0.1

Use the admin password from the base of the hub. This is a one time password that you will have to change. You will see modem mode as an option in the hub admin main menu. Once in modem mode you will have to use the address 192.168.100.1 to access the settings again.

But I can’t use the internet when the TP router is connected …so I can’t open a browser!! Or do you mean before I even connect the TP router?

We are missing a very fundamental piece of information.

Why did you buy the TP_LINK Router - i.e. to solve what problem /add what functionality ?

Best not to change any settings until your intentions are known.

Also we need to know the exact model of TP-LInk, to make sure it's suitable for cable.

  • You might find some help from this current thread...."Problems: Adding a 3rd Party Router...."  (Sorry, can't seem to get the link to post here!)

It mentions sequences for rebooting and had seen no mention of you setting DHCP mode yet?

Maybe this one is just better off with hub in router mode and let VM deal with their problems
