TP-Link stopping internet on main network

So, we have a TP-Link TL-WA850RE (I use these all the time in my job with no issue at all) to boost the WiFi signal at the back of our house. It does that part great. However, it also prevents devices from working when on the main network. We can connect, but then get a message like 'connected, no internet', yet going through the TP-Link works fine. When the TP-Link is off the main network works fine.

I've read a lot of posts and tried various 'fixes' however whatever changes I make have no effect on issue. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Bit of info on what we have:

  • M250 Fibre, Mega TV, Weekend chatter package.
  • Hub 3
  • TP-Link TL-WA850RE - in repeater mode, DHCP off

If you need anything else, please let me know.

You need to get your own router with 1Gb ports and use hub in modem mode

Thanks, I might look into that, seems like it might be the best option long term from what I've seen.

    'connected, no internet'

For a Windows 8.x or later computer this can mean Shutdown >>> Restart are needed to perform a full reboot.

I've tried things like that, and if it wasn't every device (phones, laptops, tvs) I'd deal with that as a solution. Thanks for the comment though, I appreciate your time

Is the SSID of the TP Link set to the same SSID and password as the Hub?  If not it should be to stop the two WiFi’s from clashing.

You definition of ‘network’ is incorrect, you only have one network your local LAN. I presume you  mean devices connected to the VM hub and devices connected to the TP-Link, not devices connected to different SSIDs.  The statement:

    • "TP-Link TL-WA850RE - in repeater mode, DHCP off" puzzles me. Any router in bridge mode (repeater mode) should not even have a DHCP server available. If this function is available then perhaps there is a firewall active. By the way what is the IP address of the TP-Link?

TL-WA850RE is a WI-Fi Repeater, one of its options is LAN settings as DHCP or Static IP.
A Static IP that does not suit the VM Hub could result in connection failures

Face with this, I would Reset the TL-WA850RE and perform a clean installation with it.
Unless the TL-WA850RE is faulty, it should be fine to use as a Wi-Fi repeater.

From the manual "The extender is preset with a default LAN IP 192.168.0.254"   Would this cause any issues with the existing Hub?

The OP uses "these all the time in my job" ... Kind of surprised that correcting its configuration is not a breeze.
