Sudden forced upgrade from Hub 2!

I've had a Hub 2 since I think when we joined VM years ago, running in modem mode. No problems at all - we were on "M125 Broadband" broadband apparently.

With no warning at all yesterday, SSL certs started saying they weren't valid. Things didn't load, and stuff complained about being offline. YouTube weirdly remained unaffected though (on some of our devices at least).

I used the online status checker and it told me that I needed a new hub, and gave me a big "order" button to hit. So I did. Then I called the helpline and got through to somebody who was very good at dodging questions about why this was happening, but said the hub would arrive Saturday (tomorrow) and an engineer would then land on our doorstep on Monday.

While I'm waiting - does anyone know if there was some announcement I missed about this? Weirdly, we now seem to have come back on line, but only at about 5Mb/s.

The. Hub 2 should be replaced due to a security issue. VM should have contacted you to arrange a replacement. It's a simple swap that you can do yourself, it doesn't need a visit.

Oh OK. Hm. Wonder if that security issue was the issue? Do you have a link?

The hub has no control over  SSL certs saying they weren't valid maybe your cmos battery needs changing.

I think our vague poster is refering to the device you are using, rather than the HUB.

As in if the date and time on your device is incorrect it can cause issues with SSL certificates, however, is highly unlikely!

SSL certs started saying they weren't valid.

How about sharing a screen shot of these so we might have a clue what is occurring.

It's back OK now, but it was (in Chrome at least) the CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID warning.
