Solid red light on hub.

Hi, since a while now the white led at the bottom is solid red instead of white. I have called with virgin several times and they keep insisting it it due to the bandwidth that this led is red i.e. too many big users on wifi. I have very irratic wifi performance, regularly we have to disconnect and reconnect to the wifi with all our hand held devices. I have seen the various posts on here about the same issue and people are getting a new modem as the led apparently idicates that it has been overheated. All that virgin has done now is send me 2 wifi boosters since I complained about wifi signal after they let me perform countless checks and resets etc. We still have the same issue. In the beginning when we just had virgin the wifi was good, at the moment the wifi is maddening bad. How do I convince them when I call that the modem needs replacing? This is driving me nuts...

You have been told utter rubbish by customer service. A VM staff member should see you post today and be in contact.

  • Hi Hamakimi,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our Community Forums!

I am sorry you've been told by other agents that a red light is something to do with WIFI bandwidth or something else along those lines. That is really not great as it's actually one of two things -

    • Faulty LED light - This means the main visual indicator of problems is faulty, so important to fix ASAP.
    • Overheating issue - If your Hub is hot to touch or smells of burning, this would be incredibly urgent to fix.

The best and quickest way to get this sorted is by booking an engineer visit for you, I'll send you a PM now so we can get this booked in.

    Speak to you soon!
