Sky Q access issues using TP access point.

I have Virgin fibre and have a Sky Q box in an annexe using a TP link access point connected to the main router. I can connect to main Sky box and get programmes but after approx. 10 seconds the connection drops and checking the setting it shows no access to the internet. The access point is connected to the 2.4 ghz port on the Virgin router. I can get BBC iPlayer, channel 4 etc. on the TV so there is no issue with the connection to Internet over the TP link. Can anyone explain why I can’t get this working? Thanks.

Is the TP-Link Wi-Fi Access Point more stable if it is fed from a 1 Gb/s network port ?

To avoid ( Auto channel change ) glitches during TV streaming we have both of our
TP-Link Wi Fi Access Points and our VM Hub set to  fixed manual channels.

Channel 1 or 6 or 11 on the 2.4GHz band and channel 36 or 44 on the 5GHz band.

  • Hey WaveyDave, thank you for reaching out and we are sorry to hear about your connection issues.

Did any of the above advice help at all?

You mention connecting to the main box - is it a Sky mini-box you have issues with that connects to the main Sky Q box elsewhere in the house?
