Signal booster?
Hi all,
I have just had VM 1Gb installed with a VM Hub5x and need to extend the WiFi signal to my garage, does anyone have any recommendations for some kit that will possibly achieve my goal?

Thank you to everyone who replied to my question. I went with a TPLink RE 700X, it is placed about 3 metres from the router and has extended the range to over 15 metres away through 2 solid walls and an elevation of approximately 7 metres 2.4 & 5g with about 2 bars.

You don’t say how far away the garage is from the hub, or if there is anything in between so it’s hard to make any recommendations, but the fact that you have posted on here would indicate that you have tried it and the WiFi signal in the garage is not adequate.
The best possible option would be to run a cat 6 or 6e cable from the hub to the garage and fit a (fairly cheap) WiFi access point in it. Is this remotely feasible? Any competent electrician should be able to do this for you, but it would involve holes being drilled into walls etc.
The option of Powerline adapters has been mentioned, do you even have a mains power socket in the garage? If not, then this is a non-starter, and even if you do, if it is on a different circuit (as mentioned by jpeg1), then it can make it a bit problematic.
Realistically, I think you may need to run a cable.
A better wifi router then the hub would also be a option like
You have to double NAT till VM add modem mode or you can get X-ONU-SFPP A switch with VLAN support to go from it to ethernet to router

But check if the garage is on a separate mains circuit. That can reduce the signal considerably.
Phase is the real question, we have PLAs on multiple breaker circuits but they are all on a single phase so work well.
How many UK homes have 3 phase ... not many and those that do just pay folks to sort out their home IT issues.
