Second PC only connects to internet via Ethernet or Wifi after a hard reset of router

We have 2 PCs set up, both connected to the router (Hub 3.0) via Ethernet. Have had no issues with this until last week.

My PC is still working absolutely fine with no issues whatsoever, but my partner's no longer connects to the internet at all. When connected via Ethernet it shows as "Unidentified Network". I have tried connecting it via Wi-Fi to see if it was an issue with the Ethernet port and it connects but does not have internet access either.

Doing a hard 60 second pin reset of the router fixes the problem, it connects and stays connected no problem at all until the PC is restarted at which point it goes back to not working. Also, when it is connected if he plays any Overwatch 2, it will disconnect after about 5 minutes and stay disconnected until we do a hard reset again. Unsure if this is a specific OW2 issue or just multiplayer games in general that cause this.

I have tried a Network Reset on the PC and it did nothing. I have checked the Hub settings as well and there is no MAC filtering happening. Completely out of ideas about what to try or if this could just be an issue with the Hub itself?

Any ideas? Thanks

  • Update your drivers, check your pc manufacturer website for the update tool and get the netwrk card updated along with any mobo drivers.

Get a better router with 1Gb ports and put hub in modem mode

Reads like it is the PC that needs :   Shutdown or signout >>> Restart
this  triggers a full shutdown / cold reboot clearing common Windows network issues.

Note I am being very careful to avoid saying turn the PC Off / On
as that has little effect on the state of  Windows 8 / 10 / 11.
