Router problems

Hi. I’m having a few issues with my broadband router. It has been intermittently dropping out for few months now on Wi-Fi and also doesn’t seem to handle an Ethernet connection to my sky-Q box which then cannot connect to my secondary sky-Q box via Wi-Fi. I’ve reset, stopped/started, switched off, etc but it constantly shows a solid red display on the front of the router. As I’ve read on this forum, that points to the router overheating I think.

what would be the best approach to getting this rectified? Online chat/telephone call to virgin media is pretty useless.

  • Hello Hall34

Thanks for posting in regards to wireless network issues experienced and problems with your Sky Q box when wired, we appreciate you letting us know via the forums and welcome to the community.

From checking the connection and equipment the download speeds to the Hub show as averaging 383Mbps and upload at 37Mbps, there were some disconnection over the weekend including a long one on Sunday morning but apart from that no real issues.

Looking at the connection there are some power level issues on your downstream channels which although aren't major may have an impact over time. I will send you a Private Message, please keep an eye out in the top right when signed into the forums for the envelope. This is where you will be able to find my Private Message and be able to respond.

If this is a Hub 3, and if the red LED persists after a pinhole reset, the Hub should be swapped out. This red LED is the overheat warning and should be working correctly.

Hub 3 red light normally does not stop the Wi-Fi or Ethernet from working.

However if  Parental Controls ( was Child Safe ) is turned on in the VM online a/c,
this could easily cause the Sky-Q unit to be blocked from the Sky platform.
