Router being moved to another room .

Hi folks .

I am getting my router moved from one room to my sitting room where the television is along with the VM box .

I need to know what the engineer needs access to . I can move my pc and table but right in the corner of the room is where the cable comes into the house , does he need to get to that because I have a large wood and glass cabinet in that corner full to the brim of DvD's . I'm getting on a bit and not as strong as I used to be .

The gap is 21cm wide and the box is opposite the side of the cabinet . The box is at about the same depth .

Do I need to get the cabinet moved or is there some other way they do it , I'd hate to empty the whole thing and get it moved to be told by the engineer I needn't have moved it  . thanks .

Dave.

  • Hi Nodders

    Welcome to the Community Forums.

Do you have a faceplate/white socket with Virgin Media, NTL World or TeleWest behind the wooden cabinet?

The engineer will need to access a faceplate if there is one behind it, if there isn't they can either install a new one or if possible, rewire from the currently used faceplate.

If you don't feel comfortable moving the cabinet, please don't attempt this, the engineer will be able to discuss the set up with you when they arrive.

Ahh great thankyou , he may be able to get to the socket , touch and go really . I'm going to get the desk out in that corner and see what space he will .

      Thanks , appreciate it .

Can I disconnect the router in the other room and have it ready to go or does he have to do it , just in the middle of 2 kids moving out and the amount of boxes and bags in the dining room were the router is is like a hoarders paradise :)
