Replace virgin media hub 3.0 with NETGEAR R8000 Nighthawk X6 but keep VM LAN ports for TV etc

I live in a bungalow so thought I might get better WiFi putting a router in the loft connected to the VM Hub 3.0. However the VM hub is connected to the TV, AV receiver etc so I want to keep the VM ...

The bungalow is long and thin and I want to get coverage to the rear of the house so best place for the NH for now is in the loft.  I'm not going to run cables into the living room, it is just not practical.  If I can keep the VM LAN ports, then all good.  It is a pity to lose a number of the NH features, but for now I think it is what I need,
