Problems connecting to Chinese website

For the last 4 weeks, I couldn't connect to any chinese website. For example, when I go to www.12306.cn, where you can buy train tickets, it shows

Hmmm… can't reach this page

www.12306.cn took too long to respond

Try:

ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

I don't use any VPN, I checked my virgin broadband no child safe is on. When I use mobile hotspot, the desktop connects to those website fine. Please help, many many thanks.

http://www.12306.cn/   loads perfectly for us in both Edge and Firefox.

    Try URL : https://www.12306.cn/index/ or https://www.12306.cn/index/index.html

Failing this, check to see if your VM connection is returning the same IP list :

    C:\Users\Philip>nslookup www.12306.cn

    Server: cache1.service.virginmedia.net
    Address: 194.168.4.100

New update, when I disabled the router mode and use Modem mode instead, the chinese website works perfect for me. Only downside by doing that is I lost wifi connection and only ethernet cable connection is working. My Hub 3 keeps showing steady red light, it might be a hub defection by chance? Again, thank you for your time and all the advices, really appreciate it.

Hub 3 does display a Magenta light in Modem mode, I expect that is what you can see.

Modem mode would bypass both Child Safe and Virus Safe which may be present in Router mode.
Child Safe and Virus Safe are configured in the VM online account.

If you revert to Router mode try setting your computer to use a Public DNS e.g. Google DNS.

By following your instruction, I have reverted to router mode and set the public DNS to google DNS, unfortunately still not working for me. I tried cloud DNS, same result as well.

I can think of one solution is to change the router to modem mode and buy a third party router to project wifi signal. In theory it could work?

The colour of the light is bright red in both router and modem mode, I don't see megenta light. I checked virgin website lights explained, it says the red light means the hub is too hot. By following their instruction to fix the hub, it didn't work, the right light remains.

In the Hub 3 menu  there is Network diagnostic tool,  run this and scroll down to the result for Temperature.
