ports not opening

I turned UpnP off, and have assigned a port forward to a device, and have that device reserved as an LAN ip address.

My nat is strict, but when I turn UpnP on I now have open nat.

I should be able to have upnp turned off but it seems that I have to have uPnP turned on for  virgin media hub?

on BT hubs I could disable upnp and still get open nat to my device, as long as I applied port forwarding.

If I put virgin media hub into modem mode with no other routers attached to it, It showes I have open nat with upnp turned off. it makes no sense.

  • Hello Palm771

Thanks for posting in regards to your connection and issues experienced, we appreciate you taking the time to raise this via the forums.

Essentially, Port Forwarding isn't something we support with so are unable to assist you in this. However, if you search the forums there are threads with information on this and advice but the Virgin Media Team can't offer this directly to you.

Virgin media support port forwarding otherwise it wouldn't be an option in the routers?

could you report the bug to virgin media tech team so they can try and fix it via software updates.

It seems I am not the only customer here having the same issues.
