Port Forwarding on Hub 5x

Hi,

Just got a new contract with Virgin and cannot get the port forwarding to work at all. I'm hoping that it's something simple but having read a few previous messages I'm not sure. All I want to do is forward a few simple TCP ports into an internal server. I've tried turning DMZ on/off for the internal server as well to no avail.

I did try using modemmode but that just ended up with my router light staying green and never coming back so I abandoned that idea (that actually would be my favoured option if possible)

It's fundamental to me that port forwarding works, if it doesn't I'll be cancelling my contract. Anyone got a definitive does/doesn't work?

Thanks

Rob

You can forget modem mode on the 5x.

Why is that please?, as virgin have just given me on, though I am currently using it as a router ATM.

Modem mode isn't supported on the HUB 5x, and there isn't any sign of it being enabled.

Look how bad this hub5x is on the future of fibre

  • I did get this working eventually . I didn't need to switch on DMZ and left the firewall options as default. I just needed to do a reboot it seems. I definitely get the impression it's not the most bug free device. Wish modem mode worked.
