poorly located router

Hi, I've just had my installation a few days ago and my signal is really poor in at least half of the rooms in the house. This is because I can't move the router to a more central position as the coax cable is very short, and the engineers located the external boxes at the front of the house.

Will VM send me a signal booster without having to pay an extra £8 per month? It seems like this is down to poor location by VM so I don't see why I should pay extra.

  • VM can provide a longer cable if you wait a couple of days. Out of interest were you present when the installation was being done?

No I wasn't expecting them, we had no idea that they were coming to do anything, plus they didn't even knock on the door (cameras).

  • Not sure VM are responsible for any internal wiring, if you needed the hub in a more central location that's probably down to you to sort out. You're probably better off getting yourself a separate wifi access point and installing it in a central location, then running an RJ45 cable back to the hub or using a powerline adaptor and running the signal over the mains back to the hub.

If you do need a Wi-Fi extender, don't rent one from VM for £8 a month forever. You can buy your own to keep for much less than a year's rental.

Yes we thought we might have to do that. Shame though 😕
