poor connection to garden office

i use an office in my garden which is detached from the house, the broadband is provided by a powerline from the main house.  unfortunatly the signal is not great and sometimes unusable (very slow)  when i renewed my contract it was suggested i try a wifi pod, but unfortunatly it didnt arrive, though not sure it would have worked anyway as the office is approx 10 meters from the house.

not sure what my best option would be.

would virgin provide a second line to the office?  or would their installers be able to instal a fixed ethernet connection from the router in the house to the office.

Any advice greatly recieved

Thanks

Paddy

Run an ethernet cable from the Hub to the office. Not the easiest answer but the most reliable.

An electrician would install a suitable Ethernet cable.  VM do not do this.

Consider having network sockets and a Wi-Fi service from a Wi-Fi Router in your garden office.

Exterior grade cat 6 run in conduit or direct-burial in a trench 20–30 cm deep would be good. And in the office you'd probably want a wireless access point, can't recommend one but look for easy-to-install from suppliers such as TP-Link or ASUS. Note: the WAP needs to be put into access point mode to disable its DHCP server.

Security camera installers are best for this, they can install cat6 cable cheaper than electricians

Just make sure if it’s exposed that it’s exterior grade Ethernet cat6 cable. If it’s in a conduit it does not matter. The difference is that external cable is if it’s exposed to sunlight (UV) which soon degrades it. It’s best to get two runs of cable done, you don’t have to use both, but as cable is very cheap it’s good for contingency.
