Ordering Wi-Fi Pods via the Forum

Hi VM customer service people,

I've just moved house and am on the Gig broadband, which gives me access to up to three Wi-Fi boosters if my speed is less than 30Mb/s in any room, I believe? Actually, it's non-existent in some rooms, so I'm going to need at least one, probably two!

Is it possible to get a dialogue going online to get this in motion please? My hearing isn't great, so I have difficulty with telephone support.

Thanks

Steve

  • John_GS was really helpful in sorting out a pod for me, which has greatly improved the wi-fi throughout the house, so I'm going to mark this as closed.

  • Problem with this “you must show needed” is that we have similar issues.  One room at corner of house - not especially big either medium sized 3 bed detached 25 year old) sometimes gets just over your cut off at say 32mbps (which is still awful when paying for a Gig1 service) and others it won’t connect, which doesn’t register on your tests so therefore won’t trigger anything to start the convo about needing pods!

      Hi Bluetopaz2025,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

We're sorry to hear you're having issues with your WiFi connection. As mentioned by Adduxi, we only guarantee a speed of 30mb for WiFi. This is because there are so many things that can influence a WiFi connection, some of which include but are not limited to, a fish tank being in the same room, walls being built with concrete instead of brick, it could even be that your next door neighbours router is interfering with yours. Due to this, we are only able to offer limited help. Please have a look here.

The Hub's location could also be causing the coverage problem so we do need to check the positioning of it. Can you please ensure the following:

      • > Out in the open
      • > Next to the TV not behind it
      • > Away from large bodies of water (e.g. fish tanks)
      • > Away from baby monitors and cordless phones
      • > Away from microwaves

Think of the Hub as a radio, and WiFi as the sound - the further away you are from the radio, or the more obstacles that are in the way (walls, electronic devices etc.), the quieter the radio & the poorer the WiFi.

If that doesn't help, you can download our Connect App which will allow you to scan areas of your home and will offer help. If a WiFi Pod will help, the app will give you the option of adding this. You can view more information on that here.

If after going through the self-checks, you still need some help, feel free to pop back to us for further support.

      Many thanks,

VM only guarantee 30Mb over wireless irrespective of service tier.

Find the spots in your house / garage etc that give the answer you need !

But do remember, if you find a spot that reports say 15 to 18 Mbps, that is not where the VM Pods is installed, the VM Pods needs to be close enough the the VM Hub to get a strong / fast signal on both Wi-Fi bands.

  • Hi steverobertsbbc

Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community. Apologies for any WiFi issues.

The Pods are indeed sent if the tests ran show needed.

I'll send you a PM now to assist further.
