You can pay VM £25 to move the hub, but that also means that the WiFi upstairs will be most likely be very weak.
The move will be simple as the cable comes into the ground floor, so it just has to be cut to size and terminated.

We're sorry to hear the WiFi signal downstairs is not up to standard. As mentioned by Roger, moving the hub would only move the signal issues. We can absolutely look at booking a visit to move the hub for you, there would be a £25 call out fee for doing this. I just noticed that the light has now turned to solid red. I had a look in the community and saw the instruction to reset the hub with a pin. I tried this and it is still red. Looks like I have a problem with my Hub 3 that needs to be addressed.
The Hub3 has a well documented issue (search on here) where the LED fades to yellow>orange>red over time. This is usually nothing to do with any performance issues at ll. What it does mean is that its ability to signal an overheating problem is compromised - hence VM will swap the Hub for you. Often for another Hub3 though!
Also, have yo considered just leaving the Hb where it is and using your own equipment to improve the wifi downstairs?
f you do want to invest in better equipment, you would need to get either a… (1) Mesh System, (2) Wireless router, (3) Wireless access point(s), (4) a pair of good quality Wifi Powerline Adaptors, or a combination of (2&3). £40-100 should sort it for most customers with an average property and usage. Spend more for additional advanced“features” - if required.
Thank you jbrennand. I will leave it where it is for the moment as the signal appears to have improved to a level where it is functioning well enough. The light on my hub has turnd back to yellow again. I think it's on the way out. I was hoping someone from Virgin Media would see this and advise me.
