We had virgin media installed a few weeks ago. The router is at the front of the house and is not reaching the office at the rear. I need to book someone to move it to the centre of the house as I have had before with other providers.

The primary place to report faults or for service requests is Customer Services on 0345 454 1111/150 if you have a VM landline or wait two or three days for a VM staff member to get to your post.

This TPLink kit is excellent. connect the smaller one of the pair to any of the hub's ethernet ports, then plug the larger device in the office and you will be able to connect at near full speed.

That kit only has 10/100 ports? Besides a cabled solution would be the best for a Home Office. PLA’s are very hit and miss and very dependent on the house wiring.
As adduxi says, the best solution by far, is to run some Cat6a ethernet cable from the hub to the office and the to attach a wireless access point with GB ports onto the cable. I use the TP-Link Archer C64 and it works great for ~£40 - or pay a bit more for one with better features.
