Modem Mode disables ethernet

3 months in to trying to get an acceptable service from VM and failing miserably. In desperation I purchased a Nest WiFi Pro router and all works well if hub is left in "router mode". As soon as I change hub to "modem mode" the router falls out of bed and there is no ethernet signal. I am minded to leave hub in router mode. Has anyone else had this problem, if so was there a workaround? Incidentally 'Modem Mode" isn't shown in the GUI so I have to modify the URL to read "http://192.168.0.1/?page=modemmode"

Hi, sorry for the delay in responding. Yes, I have full FTTP (no coax tails). I am based in Essex.

In which case modem mode isn't officially supported, and in some cases the 'workaround' doesn't work.

The tread omits to mention what aspect of the service is proving to be unacceptable.

Folks have reported Modem mode possible but not reliable on a
Hub 5 in Modem mode via a single 1Gb/s port.

Predominantly the wifi, even using the VM supplied POD's hence my purchase of a wifi 6e router.

Hey startingtopuff, thank you for reaching out and we are sorry to hear you are having some connection issues.

Is this only happening on modem mode?

Are you using a 3rd party router now or thinking of getting one?

VM don't want to support modem mode on 10Gb port which is ironic because VM don't support your full speed by that 10Gb and people on here say but your speed is by many devices so VM might as well had the hub have just 1Gb ports in that case what was the point and cost of adding a 10Gb when your not going to support it let alone adding a switch which is fun because of EEE making that not work too.

  • I am in the same bed, th Hub 5 is a shocking piece of kit.
