Major issues connecting to some sites - also virgin's status checker is BROKEN ! (joke service)

Another day trying to wfh..

I am unable to connect to various sites - i.e www.ubuntu.com

The sites i'm having issue with are find if I connect via mobile network (ie not Virgin) and tether my phone.

Sometimes it connects but download speeds are like 16kbps (thats KB..)

I tried using the status service checker and the status page is presently broken.

How can I claim compensation for this service outage if the statue page is broken ?

Are parental controls turned off, as these can affect website connectivity?. You can prove this by using a different DNS server to Virgin's to access the internet.

Virgin does not monitor individual lines, so if there are signal issues at your own property, Virgin don't know about them unless you inform them.

Lastly, the OFCOM compensation scheme is only triggered if there is a TOTAL LOSS of Broadband or Landline service continuously for a period exceeding 48 hours. If you have a partial service you do not qualify.

Goodness knows why they couldn't pin the posting that legacy1 points to at the top of the forum until things resolve themselves.
