Is VPN use still blocked when VPN "Child Safe" is enabled in the Virgin Media online account?

I will need to use a VPN for work, but I've read that Virgin Media doesn't allow VPNs when the child safety feature is enabled.

Is that still true? Haven't got a VPN yet to try it.

Thanks

If VM still block by DNS then  VPN for work by some domain should not be known by Child Safe

3rd party VPN like nordvpn.com are blocked by Child Safe

If you have any problems try hub in modem mode

With VM Parental Controls Disabled I have never had any issues with office VPNs or Video Conference or access to Social Media & Messenger services.

With VM Parental Controls enabled, expect no end of things to be broken or to fail in obtuse ways.

Is there a better or good child/parental controls you can set at the router level with VM or do you need a new router/modem?

They have apps on their phones etc but they're a bit weak at times.

You can't change any settings on the VM Hub.  However, you can change the DNS manually on each device.  Try Cloudflare Anti Malware and Adult Filter DNS   1.1.1.3 and 1.0.0.3

Or get a better Router and use the Hub in modem mode with similar DNS filtering software "built in"

However, it is such a trivial thing to bypass any filtering, just as demonstrated above.  It's best to chat to the kids about avoiding "bad" internet ...  :-)

There is always the other option, leave the VM Parental Controls enabled.

Modify the DNS of your work mobile and your work laptop to use a Public DNS so your kit bypasses the blocks on VPN / Conf Calls / Social Media etc.

Here is a handy guide from Cisco OpenDNS :

Keep your eyes and ears on the kids because the day will come when a discussion at school says, look I made this simple change & just spent a very interesting evening looking at weapons etc etc...

Child safe works by filtering your internet traffic at the Domain Name System (DNS) level and blocks a wide range of websites by category. One of those categories might be VPN websites. If this causes a problem, disable child safe or change the DNS settings on your computer.
