Intermittent issue accessing Microsoft Azure/ADO etc

I have a TP Deco mesh system for wifi and usually connect my work laptop via a cable to a nearby mesh unit.

At the beginning of the day I am able to access everything. After some time I start losing access to items in the Azure portal. For example I can view the overview of a CosmosDB account but data explorer stops working. This sometimes affects other Microsoft sites (maybe Azure underneath).

Sometimes I can get working again by disconnecting my network cable from my Mesh device forcing the laptop to go wireless and still connect to that same device!

At the same time, my home laptop can still access the things I cannot on my work laptop but sometimes that starts to fail too.

Sometimes it works after I restart the Virgin router.

Does anyone else have similar issues with Azure? This happens everyday

  • I am having very annoying intermittent problems connecting to azure.portal.com. It works for a while then says I have no internet yet every other web page works, how can I get this resolved?

Have you tried a static IP and manually setting the DNS on the laptop to Cloudflare DNS, for example?  These are 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1

    1) hence this is not looking like a VM Hub issue

    2) focus on the work laptop :

++ always use the mains adaptor

++ make sure it configured to use an "Always On" power profile

++ in the Windows Device Manager, make sure the Network Adaptors cannot be powered down to save energy

++ try with a new different network cable

    ++
consider the location of the Mesh device, it sounds so close to the laptop is may be very badly placed or not needed at all.   Remember a cable connected Mesh device is just an external Wi-Fi adaptor.

  • Have checked all of those. Any other website especially non Microsoft sites work unaffected at the same time. It seems to me it is related to sites that use Azure.

How can I log a ticket with Virgin to investigate?

      Hi RlyPolyMacaroni,

Thakn you for your post. We're very sorry to hear about the issue with your work laptop.

To confirm, do you use any VPN's on your work latptop that aren't present on your other laptop?

        Tuning in

No I don't use any VPNs, I've since found my other laptop also starts to fail to access Azure so I don't know what is going on.

I have been having so much trouble working at home when accessing Microsoft web sites especially Azure. Most days it starts off fine, then at some random point during the day I can no longer access portal.azure.com. Other microsoft apps/pages sometimes play up as well, like Teams or ADO. I have no problems with other web sites and no issues in the office. It is so annoying, is this a common problem with Virgin media? I may have to consider switching

Put the hub back into router mode and connect directly to it with an Ethernet cable. Do you still have a problem.

  • I will try that once the problem is total outage. Today has started as usual with everything working. Then I cannot view a log stream on a container app in azure but can view CosmosDB containers. Usually I will eventually lose all access to azure portal, then I will try direct cable to Virgin router
