Hub5 problem

Recieved a Hub5 after my Hub3 packed up. Now my smart speaker and an indoor security camera can't be connected via wi-fi anymore no matter how much I try

First try adjusting the the Hub 5 Wireless mode to be 802.11 n/ax mixed on the 2.4GHz band.

Does this help the Smart Speaker and the Security Camera to connect ?

Dont even know if I'd know how to do that. I've noticed a lot of replies to questions on here seem to assume everyone is good with tech.

Not me, I'm thick, I just drive and dig up roads.

Just look in the settings and you will find it.

In a broswer go to...  http://192.168.100.1  and login with the "numeric" settings password (  not the wifi one ) that is on the base sticker and then just look in the wireless settings to find the box that contains the data

Oooh how VM make it simple

you need to re-setup your devices with the new hub 5 when you 1st did it with the hub 3

Managed to get it to 2.4 and the speaker now works. Unfortunately not the camera though so think I'll give up with that as it could have its own fault and maybe packed in before my hub 3 went wrong.

Did you also do as said above (....Wireless mode to be 802.11 n/ax mixed) - if not that may be confusing the camera - so if not - go in again and do that

Hub 5 tend to have WPA3-SAE disabled by default, but it is worth checking that your Hub 5 is set to WPA2-PSK on the Wireless security page of the menu. VM clearly know WPA3-SAE is trouble or simply does not work on the Hub 5 but as ever are silent on the matter.

What does "can't be connected via wi-fi"  mean ?

    1) Does it mean that having done nothing at all they don't work - that would not be a surprise.

    2) Does it mean having followed the makers installation instructions to the letter the devices do not detect the new SSID from the Hub 5 i.e. the classic case of the device is not compatible with the Hub 5 Wi-Fi 6 / 802.11ax service ?

If it is the latter, on your Hub 5 can you try changing the Wireless mode to "802.11 n/ax mixed" and see if that helps to get the two devices to see the Hub 5 signal.  Please let us know if that helps or does not.

All these numbers & settings you tell me might aswell be in Arabic for all the sense they make to me.

Ive managed to get it on 2.4 and disable the other setting, so speaker now works. As already said, Ive given up with the camera, it could well have given up the ghost before my hub 3 went down the pan, as Id not checked it for a while before. I only tried it when I realised the old hub wasnt doing wi-fi anymore.

Hey RickLincs, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear about this.

Has any of the advice above helped at all?

If you have rebooted it has this fixed it or not? Cheers

Odds on the CCTV camera is working fine.

Get hold of its installation manual, reset the camera and reinstall it just as you did with the Hub 3
