Hub5 5ghz drops all devices

I've recently installed a Hub5 (replacing Hub3). At first it was fine and provided good WiFi speeds with my 1gb service. However within minutes of service it dropped all devices connected to the 5ghz signal and these devices connected to the 2.4ghz signal. Although the 5ghz signal was visible nothing would connect to it.

I tried giving the 5ghz WiFi a different SSID but still nothing would connect to it. A reset of the hub just repeated the problem, all waswell for just a few minutes before nothing could connect to the 5ghz service even though it was visible to the WiFi analyzer.

I have had to put the Hub5 into modem mode for now using an old router but I would like to find out how to solve this issue. Any thoughts?

Thanks

You may find the Connect app is trying to reset your Hub to the old SSID etc from the Hub 3.  Remove the app from all devices and pinhole reset the Hub 5 and start again.

Hi thanks for your suggestion. The SSID's haven't changed between hubs so I'm not sure that should be a problem. Also I have never used the connect App.

Well that's good that you don't use the app 😉   However all VM Hub's ship with a unique SSID, so unless you have changed it to one of your own SSID's, they should be different out of the box.

As for the 3rd party Router, that should be a plus.  I and many others here don't use the Hub's in any other way except in Modem mode.
