Is it just me, or is it just another glitch, or is it finally here for everyone...?I now have Modem Mode as a normal menu option.Anyone else?

I'm old enough to remember the days when you got a modem from BT or cableco and it was tolerated - but not supported - if some hardy souls installed a router behind it. Perhaps this attitude should be pragmatic for the crippled hub 5X if cloning the hub does no damage to VM.

I have the same software build but I don't see the option yet. Got my hopes up then but no joy. Really wish they had given an option to have an ONT and supply our own solution.

So a bit of bad news from Virgin (courtesy of ispreview.co.uk who looked into this for me): "This is actually a GUI error that the team have become aware of today and they’re working to remove it as a visible option. This should be done shortly." Talk about Virgin Media being utterly incompetent. Bad enough they can't give us a Modem Mode. Now they erroneously give us a setting for it, that isn't actually real or working! Give me strength.

im going to pull the trigger and a WAS-110 SFP+ Module and just replace the whole hub 5x altogether. I know it is "unsupported" but given that the hub 5x doesnt do wifi well, dhcp well, or dns well its a lame duck in the loop that I want rid of.

It seems that a few people have done this, a somewhat involved process which includes configuring the WAS-110 module with the PON serial number and MAC address taken from the label on the hub 5X.

I've been checking for this regularly since joining over a year ago. As it has not appeared in this time, and is such a basic offering, I can only conclude that Virgin have no intention of ever making this available. Therefore as other fibre providers have arrived in the area now, I'll be leaving.
Running a large network at home with many different AP's I have no choice but to use my own equipment, modem only mode is just a basic expectation. I'm running a 2nd wan on a 10 year old Plusnet router with this functionality, so for it to be missing on virgins fibre offering in 2024 is pathetic really.
