Hub 5 Ethernet ports stopped working, keeps restarting

I've a Hub 5 with 3 ethernet cables connected. 1 to an 8 port switch that feed multiple devices, a 2nd to the TiVo 6 box, a 3rd to smart TV. This setup has been working fine for years. Since last Saturday I've lost connection with both TV and Tivo box (ports 2&3) but everything running from the switch is fine.

As a short term fix I plugged TV and Tivo into switch and all was fine for a day or so, until watching Netflix it cut off and noticed light had gone off on hub.

Restarted and all ok for a short while. Things now gone from bad to worse. Hub keeps rebooting itself, sometimes I have WiFi connection from various devices but no internet. Have manually rebooted numerous times, done a hard reset with pin, soft reset via online.

No joy. Just whilst typing this was online on phone via WiFi (red lights on Tivo box ie no ethernet to Hub) and suddenly hub flashed green lights and now has no lights!

Faulty hub?

  • Hub now completely dead. No lights at all. Green light on power supply, tested with multimeter and seems to be supplying steady 12v.

Update: got up early to phone VM at 8am to find hub was back on, solid white light, internet connected, and ethernet seems currently connected.

Last night left hub switched on,( but appeared dead for over an hour at least) and Tivo on standby (red light).

This morning TiVo off completely, hub back up and running.

What on earth is going on??

  • Possibly. That was my thought. It's started playing up again so VM sending me a replacement. Finger crossed!
