Hub 5 Device Name Change - Not Possible

I too am struggling as would like to name my devices in the router to make them easier to find and identify should something rogue try and attach to my network but although the (i) says you can do it there's no way to actually carry it out.

Seems as though VM doesn't really care about helping the user understand what's connected as the VM Connect is next to useless.

  • mrawlings99  The ability to change device names in the Hub5 firmware was removed some time ago and there hasn't been any indication from VM that the functionality will be returned.

Renaming was removed in the Feb 2024 update.
Provided pausing is not used, this stops no longer in use devices remaining in view forever.

What is far more interesting is the Hivehub connected at 10Mbps.

For years folks have sworn on a stack of bibles that the Hub 5 would not work directly with their 10 Mbps heating controller devices yet here is one working for all to see.

Hub or Hive Firmware update, Hardware update?  Who knows?  Besides it is a bit odd using a 10Mb NIC.

It turns out that 10Mbps is common for current manufacture heating controller hubs.

Over the years there must have been 20 to 30 threads on the exact Hub 5 topic and the fix was always use a low cost 10/100 or similar switch as a go between & the heating controller instantly connects.
