Simple solution is to use a separate router connected by cat 8 patch lead, does not look pretty but very effective with excellent range. I got a used one for £33 that i use for CCTV cameras on 2.4GHz.

I got one of these - £20 off eBay - just set it up today. See how we get on!

It also reads like Hub 5 on flaky Software version : LG-RDK_11.6.2-2410.1 (from Sept 2025)
where Wi-Fi and DHCP repeatedly fail requiring a reboot or reset.
Login to the Hub 5 admin menu, look at the DHCP page,
do you see devices that are not working listed with a Lease time of Zero ? - gwynnej3On our wavelength
You could well be right Mr Gooner.

All the symptoms reported by the OP point to a power problem caused by a failing external PSU or internal voltage regulator. No amount of reseting will help. VM should send a replacement hub and power adapter.

Wow, that has been happening to me.
Glad to know I am not alone.
However I just swap networks, stay on that for a while, and then back again and it is working again. - ozsatSuperstar
Dispite what the mods may say - VM are aware of this issue and we await a fix.
I wonder if VM still do beta testing??

Had this for around 3 months now, (see my original post here) 2.4g wifi keeps dropping off | Virgin Media Community - 5679111
VM are aware of the problem apparently, and yet 3 months on, still don't have any idea what it is, or how to resolve it, apart from 'resetting the hub' when it happens.
Read the replies from VM staff on here in the post mentioned, shows just how little they are interested in fixing problems, while they've got your custom, and your monthly money safely in their bank account.
My contract is up next month, so looking to get away from this bunch of 'couldn't care less' cheapskates. There are better deals out there.

VM may send you a new hub but really its not going to fix best to look at getting your own router with 1Gb o 2.5Gb ports and put hub in modem mode.

Note that after a factory pinhole reset, the 2.4Ghz may work until the Hub updates to the latest firmware. This seems to be the issue going by this thread 2.4g wifi keeps dropping off | Virgin Media Community - 5679111 and is still ongoing...?

PS - the interval between these events is typically weeks - long enough I don't make a note of the time. I could live with it except it stops most IOT devices working.
Thanks again

Hi Gwynnej3 👋 Welcome to the community forum! Thanks for posting.
Sorry to hear these concerns about your hub and the Wi-Fi.
Can you try doing a pinhole reset on your hub, and let us know if it continues to have the same issue?
We can usually check data on your hub from the last month, but if the issue is happening less regularly than that - it may be worth keeping a little tracker of the data so we can take a closer look when offering additional support.
Let us know how you get on! 🤞 Thanks for your patience in the meantime. 🌞

Hi Again
No luck I'm afraid. We were away over new year and during that time the hub failed again - I knew because CCTV, smart plugs and the central heating went offline. On returning home I power-cycled the hub and it came up - for about a minute, then shut down again. I have done a a pinhole reset but the hub will not stay powered on for long enough to do anything. The front LED comes on, white, then goes out after a minute or so.
Please advise...
Thanks
