How to split wifi

Recently I got Virgin installed,  salesman didn't say 5GHZ and now my plugs etc cannot connect as they are 2.4GHz  I've been told that I can split the wifi, how do I do that?   I tried a 192. code that was posted earlier but it comes up as not secure and I can't proceed    Any advice please

    •    Access your Hub by navigating to 192.168.0.1  Ignore the security warnings, the Hub is on your internal LAN and is safe to access.
      •    Login with the default login info (on base of Hub) unless you've already updated it.
      •    Go to Advanced Settings > Wireless > Security
      •    Disable the Smart Optimisation on the wifi bands.
      •    Under Wireless Frequency 2.4GHz change the Wifi Network Name (SSID), suggest append _2 to the end.
      •    Repeat for the Wireless Frequency 5GHz, suggest append _5 to the end and click on Apply changes
      •    Try to avoid spaces and periods in the SSID names as they can cause issues with certain devices.

NOTE - This will break the VM Wifi Pods, as they cannot work without "out of the box" setttings.  If you have Pods, just disable the 5Ghz band until you get the IoT working, and then re-enable the 5Ghz

If you still can't get past the security warning try a different browser.

I had an issue on my hub 5 with the 'security' using Chrome but was able to access 192.168.0.1 using Edge browser.

(My hub5 reverted back to Software version : LG-RDK_7.6.20-2306.5 on 2nd October 2025, and since then I can access the settings via Chrome again).

Only the hub5 and the hub5x are WiFi 6.   The name of the hub is in the top left hand corner of the label.

Thanks for that, when I got into the system it is marked as having both 2.4 and 5GHz  as being enabled .

Yes, that is correct.  You can either split the SSID or temporarily disable the 5Ghz band. The choice is yours.

The HTTPS self certificate is going to cause far more issues than it solves.
