If you are that worried, remove the Hub. If that's not an option, then cover loosely with a dust sheet. Just keep an eye on the temperature if the air flow is being restricted.

Ensure that the wall socket and cables do not get damaged. You can unscrew the cable from the socket if necessary and put it in another room. Mask the socket so that it's protected from paint.

Have Hub 5 with my landline connected. The room is being plastered and then painted. I can not remove the modem etc as family members will be working from home during
A dust sheet has been suggested but would heat be an issue?

We wouldn't advise against using a sheet for a long time period.

I am glad we removed the VM Hub and all IT kit from my office during the recent re-plastering.
The noise / dust / mess was considerably worse that we had imagined.
Use you WFH Plan B i.e. a mobile hot spot during the re-plastering & following clean up.
