How to connect Mercusys Halo H30 mesh to VM Hub 3

I've been with VM for about 20 years and I find that when the service works, it's brilliant, but when it doesn't customer service is very poor, or worse!
I have hub 3 and I want to connect a Mercusys mesh network with 3 H30 boxes to it. If you leave hub in router mode and connect the first Halo via LAN cable, it works but mercusys app on smartphone reports that 2 of the Halos have weak wifi signal, so why bother with mesh if the signal appears to be worse than using hub wifi?  They';re only 8M apart in a domestic setting. I also suspect that the router's wifi may interfere with the Mesh wifi.. is that correct?
If I switch hub to modem mode then the Mercusys app offers choices of connection type: Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoP and some others. PPPOE asks for username, password & ? VLAN ID. What type of connection do I have from a Hub 3 if in modem mode? I can't find any reference anywhere...
Could I use the Hub in router mode, but turn off both hub signals (2.4 & 5ghz)?

  • Note the H30 Mesh is listed as 10/100 Ethernet?  Not good if that is the case… However if that is not a showstopper then they can be used in Access Point mode and keep the Hub running as is.

  • If you want to use your hub in modem mode, in almost all cases all you need to do is set the connection type to DHCP or Dynamic IP on your new Mercusys. You dont need to enter any other connection information.
