How to access Hub5 status page in modem mode?

Hi, I'm trying to access the status page on my Hub5 configured in modem mode but I can't find any info that works. I've seen posts saying to go to 192.168.100.1, but that doesn't work here.

However if I go to the public WAN IP address via https I do get a response, although the browser reports:

This page isn’t working

86.2.x.x didn’t send any data.

ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

If I add something to the end of the URL, eg: https://86.2.x.x/status I get:

404 Not Found !!!

The requested URL was not found on this server.

So it seems I can get to the hub via it's WAN IP, but I'm guessing there's a "secret" URL - does anyone know what it is?

Cheers.

In modem mode a VM Hub's menu is at 192.168.100.1

Your laptop may also need to be on the 192.168.100.xxx IP range to reach 192.168.100.1

  • Just thinking about this, the WAN IP is going to be my router not the hub, so those URL errors will be coming from there not the hub. So how do I find out what IP the hub is on?

Here's the WAN interface on my router:

The only thing in the ARP cache is the VM gateway at the other end:

  • Maybe the hub doesn't have an IP address when in modem mode and simply acts as a layer 2 device.

Access to the HUB in modem mode is on 192.168.100.1.

If it doesn't work there is a fault/access issue between it and your router.

Odd, my earlier reply has vanished.

Is your laptop on the 192.168.100.xxx IP range when attempting to access 192.168.100.1 ?

You could be right, I may need an additional route, but can't test this now as I had a visit from a VM engineer regarding an outage and we've factory reset the hub back into "router" mode for now, so I can access it on 192.168.0.1. I will revisit this another time if/when I decide to put the hub back into modem mode.

Looks like a Draytek router, so similar to my setup.  The Hub 5 IP address is 192.168.100.1 as noted by carl_pearce   As for adding routes, I've never had to do this, and I can get to the Hub using both my laptop and phone.  Granted, it does fail to connect the odd time, but mostly it works fine.
