Essential Works Reminder

Every time Virgin do work on the infrastructure, I receive a text message saying:

Just a quick reminder that we're carrying out essential work to improve our network in your area on (date) between 08:00:00 and 16:00:00, which might affect your services. For more, go to virginmedia.com/remindoutage.

If you then click on the link, enter your postcode and last name, it checks current status and show various option including Upcoming Events with the planned work entry for your postcode.  If you view that entry, and clxik on details, it always says work start 12:00am and work end 2:00am.

So which is it, 08:00 to 16:00 or 12:00 to 2:00?

  • Hi Waldy 👋 Welcome back to the community forum! Thanks for posting.

Sorry to hear your frustration around updates about some local works.

What's likely happening is that the text is coming from an automated system which has identified the date of the works taking place, and then adds on the standard working hours slot for the field team (for example 8am-4pm)
Then, when you visit the service checker there is a more specific update of time they are expecting the works to be carried out (12am-2am.)

However, just to be sure it would be helpful to check over your account and we can raise this internally. I will send you a PM to confirm a few details, and if you can get a screenshot of both the text and the service checker information as you see it - we can use this to raise it with the team. You can find my PM in your ✉ Inbox in the top right corner of the page.

We can then return to this public thread with further updates when possible. Thanks for your patience in the meantime! 🌞
