Disney+ showing USA content

Here's a weird one.

So I've just tried to log into my Disney+ on my Roku and a pop up appeared saying 'Looks like you're travelling!' which I'm not as I'm sat in my living room at home. It is showing the USA Disney+ content and age ratings (PG-13, etc).

I checked on my mobile, when it's connected to the wifi it does the same but when I connect to data (iD Mobile) I get the UK version of Disney+.

BBC iPlayer loads as normal on the Roku.

I have restarted the hub and it still does the same as above.

Is this happening to anyone else or is it just me?

  • Contacted Disney+ on there help site chat, 10 minutes later they have refreshed my IP address on their system and it's working correctly again.

No such luck with Netflix or Paramount+ though and only an email form for Pluto TV.

got the same issue myself im based in Teesside as well. All my streamers are showing the USA so Disney , Paramount and Netflix all won't access Uk streams. In fact can't even watch some of the shows I was watching as there UK only

  • This is getting ridiculous now. Watching WWE Raw on Netflix from last night and getting unskippable American adverts.  Age ratings are showing in the American style now as well.

Oh my god, no wonder I was getting ads too. Shockingggg

  • A few days ago the Disney app would only show me content as if I were in the US. My husband assumed it was to do with Disney so he called them and they said restart your TV and it worked.

Tonight the Netflix app is doing the same thing, and just turning it off and on again isn't working. We don't use VPNs and using whatsmyipaddress.com shows that we are definitely 'registered' as being in Middlesbrough.

We can only conclude this is now an internet provider issue for it to be happening on two different apps within a few days.

    Any tips please?

Same issue here, both Disney and Netflix now showing only US shows. Virgin sort it out!

I am having the exact same problem with Netflix. I used Netflix's suggested test https://fast.com/ to identify the region that the client thinks it is in and it shows me as being in Stockton, California, US rather than Stockton on Tees, UK.

I am having the same region issue on both of my TV360 boxes, 3 PCs and mobile phones. On my mobile if I switch off Wi-Fi and restart Netflix it shows my correct region (i.e. Top 10 Shows in UK rather US).

I am not using a VPN either so can only assume that this must be a Virgin Media network issue.

Disney had exactly the same thing - said we were in Stockton California! My husband messaged Netflix last night about our location on Netflix settings saying US but they said they couldn't do anything about it.

I'm hoping VM looks into it because if we use our 5G then it reverts back to UK so it *must* be the WiFi!

What equipment are you using to watch the app?

Is this a VM TV box or a third party setup?

It's an LG TV, bought earlier than year. It's the built-in apps on the TV.

Yes, it says Basingstoke which is no where near where I am as I am in Teesside.

        Hi djmagnifique

I'm also in Teesside and although my IP address hasn't changed /whatismyipaddress has been showing for the past 3 or 4 weeks that I'm located in Basingstoke too. It previously showed Middlesbrough which is correct.

I've tried to  update my location on that site, however when clicking on Proceed with Update it remians on the same page and displays numerous pop up adverts. Previously it used to work and would update the location within a couple of days.

It hasn't affected me accessing Disney+ or any other apps or sites.

If I check my IP address using https://www.whatismyip.com/ it shows I am located near the Riverside Stadium (MFC's football ground) so it's only a couple of miles out, and that would be correct as the IP location isn't expected to be exact.

Same here, I am onto Sky and Paramount+ as they both say I am connecting via the US, but when running a geolocation, it says the IP is VM, UK based, and my PoP is a few miles up the road from where I am, so there is an issue somewhere in mis-reporting of IPs
