Constant problems after moving to Hub 4

After existing Hub 2ac was replaced with a Hub 4, we are having random restarts of the router of several times per day. The Hub 4 is used in modem mode, as was the Hub 2ac, we had no issues with the Hub 2ac, it worked 24x7 without issues.

        Hi Daniel, 
        spoken to support on 150 this evening, faults found on hub, replacement hub being sent. Will try this to see if issue is fixed.

    Power levels are way too high. 

    Check with Area faults on 0800 561 0061 If you have a VM landline 150 this goes down to post code level. You could also try the web page status, but this is not recommended as it only covers issues that affect a very large number of customers.

    VM will not dispatch any technicians while an area fault exists.

    If no area faults found:

    The primary place to report faults or for service requests is Customer Services on 0345 454 1111/150 if you have a VM landline or wait two or three days for a VM staff member to get to your post.

    All the downstream power levels vastly exceed the preferred range of  -7 to + 7 dBmV.

    When the Hub 4 was installed was an attenuator removed from the coax cable ?
    If not, an engineer visit is required to correct the downstream power levels,

      No, I installed the hub; removed old 2ac and replaced with Hub4, same cable etc. nothing changed but hub.
      Reported to Virgin via 150, they ran tests concluded itโ€™s a hub fault and are sending replacement. I did mention the downstream power levels to them and Iโ€™d gathered the info. I suspect another call will be occurring when this replacement hub has issues.

  • The Upstream levels are actually good, so what you need is a "forward path attenuator" to bring the downstream lower by 6-10db.   

    Do NOT let them use a generic wideband attenuator, because that will mess up your upstream levels & cause more issues.
