Cannot access router settings on Hub 3

We've had a VM Hub 3.0 for just under a year. I've never tried to get into router settings as I've never needed to, but after the 100th guest asked for the password I realised that a 12-character alphanumeric mess was not going to cut it.

I tried to log in to router settings at 192.168.0.1 with the settings password printed on the base, and was told the password was incorrect. After trying a few more times I am certain there was no typo, so I reset the hub with a pinhole reset. The password is still not being accepted.

There seem to be a few other posts about this issue. Is there any fix or is the hub irreparably doomed?

We have a Hub 3, how you reset it is absolutely critical.

    1) Press and hold the rear RESET button for 60 seconds

    2) Leave the Hub 3 powered on to revert to the shipping condition

Our default Hub 3 password is numeric & it works every time.

For convenience of visitors we have an A4 page printed with the SSID and the Password as well as the Wi-Fi QR code.   Google for a web page to generate the Wi-Fi QR code.

Its was a bad idea to do random password then a default 1234 to then change the password on login.

You have to ask for a new hub

Thanks! This was it. God knows why it needs to be 60 seconds but it works.

In the original VM notes a RESET shorter press time was mentioned
but also instruction to power off the Hub after the press of RESET.

Hub 3 appears to abort the factory reset if it is powered off,
lots have fallen foul of this doom loop.

For once RTFM resulted in seeing incomplete / incorrect advice.
