Black WiFi Pods are brilliant

I live in an old Victorian-era house, with walls 3 feet wide with no cavities. In the past, I had two areas that could only manage about 10Mbps, if that. As a result, I had to use the electric HomePlugs, but as the old house has been re-wired so many times, this wasn't great. So, I requested (as a 1Gig customer) wifi pods.

To be honest, it took a lot of arguing, six months of back-and-forth emails. It took much longer than it should have. The main problem was the app VM Connect was unable to connect to the router, to get a signal strength rating. Finally, a letter to the Ombudsman, and suddenly a WiFiPod arrived and it immediately sorted out the first problem. I asked for a second one, and to my great surprise it arrived days later and it sorted out the second problem.

I wanted to report just how wonderful these WiFiPods are. I now have two, as a 1GIG customer I can get up to three. But, for me, two sorted out my problems.

The speed difference is amazing. From 10 to 210 in one room and from zero to 283 in my living room.

      Hi

recently upgraded from m250 to m500 which I get 500+ from hub but have 3 white pods that avg 150? Engineer came out today β€˜ suggested getting a better mesh system than Virgin pods to get closer to 500 around house?? Would black ones work better? If so could I have 3?

You will need to have the Hub 5 to use the Black Pods to their full extent, as these are both Wifi 6 units.  Personally I would forget about the VM Wifi and install your ownWifi  Access Points or a MESH system.

I have an Openreach 500/70 connection and can easily get the full speeds over Wifi with my own Wifi solution.

It's very lucky for you to get the black pods as the majority seem to end up with the older white ones.  Nice to see they seem to work reasonably well.

  • My white pods have been buzzing and overheating. Tried to get black replacements but am being told that they can’t control which colour gets sent out. Fed up of wasting time on the phone. Been on again today for an hour.

      Hi Marko7t4,

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

We're sorry to hear your WiFi pods are making a buzzing sound and overheating.

We'd recommend you unplug these please.

We'd be happy to arrange replacements for you, however these would be white.

I'll pop you a private message now.

Please look out for the envelope in the top right of the page and pop back to me when you can.
