Volt free benefits not free

Iv recently last month signed up to virgin media we now have both tv and broadband as i was already an O2 customer i was told id get free volt benefits i have received my double data on o2 free but both times iv spoken to virgin media about the speed boost to my broadband iv been told i have to pay more for it first i was told it would be at least £6 a month more now iv been told £2 so are the adverts wrong do you not get a free speed boost or are they trying to rip me off?
