Leaving O2 due to price hike?

I’m thinking of cancelling O2 due to the current price hike and moving to EE. What happens to my boosted Volt broadband speeds? I’ve read it remains until the end of the contract but can’t verify this? If VM remove them immediately do I have the right to cancel that contract too? We have 1 gig atm and tnt add ons and 2 hubs

    You may loose the VOLT as you have cancelled O2, but I don't think that would allow you to leave VM without paying the disconnection fees.

    Thank you. I’ve just found this “Because you have a Volt bundle, this right to cancel also applies to your Virgin Media package” so looks like I can cancel .. just need to try to confirm if my broadband package remains the same until the end of my contract, then I would stay until then. I like the virgin product but the customer service is very bad it’s a shame really.

        Hi John_GS.

        I am in the same situation. VM recently re-negociated our contract to a Volte deal.  It seemed a good thing at the time, as they were saying that if I didn't then I would have to pay the MUCH greater charges of £80 when our contract was to end in Dec. I felt pressured into accepting the offer. Now it appears that O2 are not playing fair. What happens if VM decide to do the same, mid-contract??

        This needs a rapid reply please.

      Hi KP19

      Just got an update to this which is to say;

      If you subsequently cancel your eligible O2 Pay Monthly Mobile Plan, the Volt benefits for your Virgin Media services may be removed at anytime, and certainly when it comes to re-contracting, the Volt Tariffs will not show.

        Hi John, but this goes against what is on the o2 site below:

  • Was there an update to this as I have the same question as I also received a mail advising the same. Thanks.

    I think VM and O2 cannot reliably inform each other of a cancellation, so the practical approach is as per O2's website, i.e. you keep your boosted broadband or mobile data. When you recontract Volt no longer applies and so there are no boostings. It's simple, really, but trust VM to make a mess of this.
