Cancel 02 sim

I am a virgin media customer with volt benefit on my broadband,  increasing it from standard 350 to 500mbs. I have just recently cancelled my 02 sim linked to the virgin media account,  can I change my broadband from volt 500mbs back to the standard 350mbs speed please as I can't afford to incur any further charges to my account

  • Hi simoore1 👋.

Thanks for reaching out to us and welcome to the Community Forums, when cancelling a Volt package, mainly with the SIM our system will update and revert the media side of the package back to its original speed in due course. Can we ask how long has it been since you have cancelled the O2 SIM?

      Sabrina,

The sim was cancelled yesterday [19th December) .... unfortunately, the user of the sim no longer lives in the household, due to personal unforeseen circumstances and there was no further requirement for it. Can my broadband speed just revert back to what it would be without volt benefit and not incur any further charges, as this decision was outwith my control.... thank you,

As I understand it, if you now do nothing, then your still get then VM Volt benefits, ie double speed. but no longer have to pay the O2 part.

So you won’t be paying the O2 cost, but the VM, double speed carries on until you renegotiate the contract, or make some other changes.

Yes sounds odd, but it’s one of those occasions when VM’s incompetent systems actually work in the customer’s favour.
