100Mb Ethernet with 1Gb contract

I have a Hub4, and a 1Gb volt contract with TV.

As shown the TV box has a connection speed of 1000Mb, but any other device I connect via Ethernet is 100Mb max, using cat 5e or cat 6 cables, tested three differing devices all with the same result. Also as shown WiFi devices are getting much more than 100Mb.

I’ve rebooted the router, and logged a call, but with my strong Scottish accent I didn’t really get anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

  • If you use one of the devices running at 100Mbps with the ethernet cable and port being used for the 'Virgin-TV' does the speed drop?

      Hi,

Yes I’ve tried numerous combinations of ports and cables, including the one from the tv box into the other devices.

      Cheers.

Could you confirm what the other devices actually are?

I can see one states 'Amazon', which could be a Firestick?

The ethernet adapters used with these devices are only 10/100 (100Mbps).

  • After more playing around with cables I got 1000Mb with the Oppo so clearly there isn’t an underlying issue.

Firestick adaptor probably has a 100Mb limit.

Thanks for the assistance, as it did make me run a few more tests.

    Cheers.

  • The Linn streamer and Oppo, depending on exact model, could also have 10/100 (100Mbps) ethernet ports.
