Recorded Programmes Freezing

We have a V6 (powered by TiVo box) and previously had no issues playing recorded programmes.

Two weeks ago we changed our old TV for a new LG Smart TV (web OS22) LQ60 43”

Since then certain recorded programmes freeze on playback, which had never happened before.

Ive undertaken a soft reset (ie turned power supply off and checked all connections). The box is at 86% capacity.

The recordings that freeze all appear to be  from UK TV programmes.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you able to be more specific about which programmes and/or channels are having this issue?

And following on from that, try viewing those same channels live - do they view OK? If no, you have a signal/pixellation fault for starters. If yes, try pausing the channel for a short time and watch it delayed. Does this play OK? This is testing for hard drive/recording problems.

I suspect the change of TV is a red herring & purely coincidental for now.

Thanks, no visible freezing when playing live, only when watching recorded, channels affected are C4 and BBC 1, but these are the main ones recorded.

        ...and my seccond question then.....

If yes, try pausing the channel for a short time and watch it delayed. Does this play OK?

This is also a recording and uses your hard drive in the exact same way

Yes, a couple of freezes after pausing

In that case, your V6 has the symptoms of hard drive problems. These can't be repaired, and are likely to get progressively worse over time. The HDD won't discriminate between which channel you're pausing or recording.

You'll need a tech visit, and this will almost certainly result in the box being swapped out - so I would recommend blitzing your recordings to identify which ones can be sourced via other means (OnDemand? Streaming?) or may be re-broadcast. It's standard practice for recordings to be lost with box-swaps, so prioritise content that you can't source elsewhere.

Fault reporting is primarily via phone on 0345 4541111 or 150 from a VM phone. Or VM staff often respond on this board if you don't mind waiting a few days.

      Hi Johnbarker
      Welcome to the Community Forums.
Sorry to hear of your concerns with your recordings freezing.
Just to confirm, is the programme freezing over live TV once paused and rrestarted, or is the freezing happening solely on the recordings?

Yes, freezing over live TV once paused and restarted as well as on recorded programmes. Thank you very much.
