Pairing a remote

I have a V6 remote, and I can't use it to control the volume/mute/on-off functions on my new LG TV. I have followed the steps to pair the remote with the TV but none of the 34 codes offered work during the laid down pairing process. Anyone knows how to resolve this and successfully pair my remote with the TV. I don't seem to be able to call someone to speak to them about this.
