Green screen

Hi.

Just before Christmas i had the green screen of death on my V6 box.

It did start working again but some of the functions do not work on my recordings (skip forward and back and some times fast forward and rewind).

A engineer did visit and said that upgrading to TV 360 will cure the fault.

I requested the upgrade straight away on the 22/12/2025 but still have not heard anything back.

Is there any chance i could cancel the upgrade and just get a new V6 box?

    This is a bit like saying "your diesel car has run out of fuel so that's why it's stopped at the roadside. Changing to an EV will solve that". Aye, but so will re-fuelling.

    Whilst it's reasonable for a tech to mention TV360 and offer it, all that's required in this situation is for your faulty V6 to be swapped out for a replacement V6.

    Personally, I'd wait for the staff team to respond on these boards which may take a few days. Let them check what's happened and you can make an informed decision which way to go. You'll need a replacement box in any case, but the choice of V6 or TV360 software can be yours.

    To be honest i am not to bothered either way, i just want it fixed properly and have read on these forums that the green screen of death means a hard drive failure and could/will happen again so would like a new V6 box.

    You may be lucky and the 360 request has not been actioned.  It's a one way request and it can't be reversed.  AFAIK you can still get a replacement V6, but VM's focus is to push the 360 as they don't have to pay a Tivo licence for your V6.

    The two system are completely different, and like Marmite, some love it and some hate it.  Either way, the days of recording are numbered, it's all about streaming TV without recording.  We all have to watch those ads you know ...  ;-)
