Green screen DVR error

For those struggling to get engineer apppintments after the green screen shows meaning the hard drive has issues. An override which has worked for me is to switch off the box by the power button on the back of the tivo box. Then press and hold down the + button and the on/off lit up button on the front of the box. Ask somebody else to switch the power button back on. When the welcome screen appears you can release the two button you are pressing. Takes a while to reboot and update channel names. You will lose previous recordings also but hopefully you  can watch tv! Hope this helps as all other forums i saw just said nothing you can do but call an engineer (which may still be required as I assume the box is on its way out!)

    The, "the DVR has detected a serious problem and is trying to fix it; do not switch off for 3 hours”. message is commonly known as the green screen of death. It means that your hard drive has failed. It's not very often that the box is able to recover from this, and if by some miracle it does, then it's only a  matter of time before it fails completely.   I would strongly suggest if you do have this error then insist on a box swap.

    Thanks for that, yes works a treat but had to relink into the router and rejoin ITVX etc. but at least we can watch TV until the engineer comes in a couple of days time. I took a photo of the green screen of death in case and it’s wiped the recordings out. I won’t try to record either!
