VM box won't come off standby

Went to turn the TV on yesterday morning and the box wouldn't come off standby. I've turned the power off at the wall and it restarted itself, but only got to the point where there was a black screen but I could still see the channels at the bottom and the time top right. The light on the box was amber.

I've since tried switching HDMI ports, doing a factory reset of the box by choosing it in settings on the virgin remote.

Right now it won't come off standby again as I pressed the power button on the box while there was an amber light (and the tv screen was black), so it clearly recognises getting turned off, it just won't turn on!

All of this was after I'd came back from a weeks holiday so I think maybe a firmware update gone wrong...

    Hi VMrUseless1

I've moved your post from the email forum to the TV360 forum as from the issue you've described  it sounds like you have either a V6 or TV360 box.

My 360 boxes updated overnight to software version 5.21 and I think that's what has happened to your box and that the update has failed.

There are three possible solutions, the first one described works 9 times out of 10, so fingers crossed.

Try turning off the 360 by the switch on the back of the box;  then on the front of the 360 box  hold down both the standby/power button and the - (minus) button at the same time. Then turn on the 360 again whilst keeping hold of those buttons for a further 30 seconds.

If the standby/power button and the -  button workaround doesn't solve it then try using the standby/power button and the + (plus) button at the same time instead.

You could also try the three fingered salute, which is switch off on the back of the box;  then on the front hold down the plus, minus and standby/power buttons at the same time, and switch on again whilst keeping all three buttons pressed down.  When it restarts you might see a message it can't acquire the channels. If so press OK and let it restart again.
