Got virgin installed last month and constant issues. Now my tv box is stuck on welcome. The second tv box in the other room works fine but won’t record..
I’ve reset the tv box, updated the box, reset at plug / router etc but still stuck on this welcome screen
There are two scenarios that will cause this. A corrupted update or a failed HDD. The latter is fatal & requires a box replacement. The former can be resolved by forcing another download.
To force another firmware download:
Turn the box off via the switch at the back.
Hold in both the + & the power button (where the light is) & KEEP THEM PRESSED while switching the power back on. The buttons need to be held in for 30 seconds, so you may need another pair of hands to achieve this.
The box can take 5 to 8 minutes to reboot with the new update, so please be patient. It also results in a reformat of the HDD so you may lose recordings, series links & some other settings.
If the above fails assume a hardware fault & contact customer services.
