Virgin 360 Summer House

Hi, I have just upgraded my TV V6 box to Virgin360. I have a second box in my Summer House at the end of our garden  (c.20m from the main box). This box was never connected for live TV (only used for On Demand and Apps), if I wanted to connect for live TV would I just need to run a coaxial cable from the House to the Summer House, if so:

1) Will a Virgin engineer do this or can I do it myself?

2) If a Virgin Engineer needs to do it, what would be the requirements in terms of a safe way to run the cable (the Summer House is connected to the Mains / Internet through a wire that is buried in the garden).

3) Is there any issue with proximity from the house?

Thanks,

Sean

This would have to be done by a VM tech. VM use specialised cable & splitters as they share frequencies with other TV, Radio & Mobile Phone operations, all of which must be kept out of the network. Also adding 20 metres of cable will seriously affect your signal levels, requiring access to the street cabinet to adjust.

    2) If a Virgin Engineer needs to do it, what would be the requirements in terms of a safe way to run the cable (the Summer House is connected to the Mains / Internet through a wire that is buried in the garden).

If the cable cannot be put in the existing conduit going outside it could be attached to a fence etc.

    3) Is there any issue with proximity from the house?

Could be. It depends on your distance from the street cabinet. If you are already a long way from the cabinet there may not be sufficient signal to drive the tuners in the V360 box.

    Thanks,

    Sean
