Unable to record program

I've been trying to record a program.
If I use the remote I get a message "Unable to do that please try again later".
If I use the app I get a message "Action not possible your box is offline. Please turn your box on and try again". I'm sitting in front of the box and it defiantly turned on.
It's not just this program, I've had this problem with other programs and different channels.
Any advice please.

    Have you rebooted the box?
