Tivo 360 - when can I upgrade from it

The Tivo 360 is clearly an aborted beta

  • slow in all apps
  • Sluggish in everything - so must assume poor spec hardware.
  • Poor with recordings
    • no ability to delete all without killing a series
    • not easy to determine if you have a series link
  • Guide is useless.  If you want to change to a date, need to go to 101 and then change, then back to your channel (yes, I am aware of ffwd, but sometimes you know the date a new programme is to start)
  • searching wants to show youtube and not what is in the EPG
  • only one remote control can be used.  We had 2 on the old Tivo
  • Poor fwd/rev controls and return to app after adverts  the old box "knew" to go back x seconds

So when are we going to get the final product in our hands ?

  • If you want to change to a date, need to go to 101 and then change, press the home button which will bring you to the top. Change the day there.

Might be worth resetting the box if it's slow.   Mine is fast both in broadcast and apps.

You can use your phone as a second remote.

Voice control is best for FF and RW...  Say skip four minutes on itv shows  (usually 5 for aky shows) and it jumps through.   Or 30 seconds FF on the right of the ok button, 10 seconds RW on the left button.

If you are on a channel for example 532 press the Guide button and then the Home button and then select the day you want to look at.

You can only use one 360 remote but you can use a third party remote the Oneforall remotes the URC7125 and URC1240 seem popular choices.

The first thing to know is it's not a TiVo 360, it's Horizon software 360. The skip back feature is a TiVo patented feature but you can use voice control to skip adverts on recordings and catch up by saying "skip X minutes" 3 is usually close.

There's no such thing as a TiVo 360.

TiVo is the software-platform that drives TiVo-500 & V6 boxes. Horizon is a different software platform, and is what drives TV360 boxes. Horizon is fundamentally NOT TiVo. To refer to a "TiVo 360" is otherwise a bit like referring to an "Android iPhone" or "Windows Mac".

Many of the differences you highlight, are simply how Horizon software works. It's designed different to TiVo-software.

There is nothing new about the Horizon platform that drives V360. It has been around for over 10 years & is now in its 5th generation. It is a streaming centric platform with recording bolted on. If you have migrated TiVO V6 boxes over to Horizon 360 this might be the issue, as the older well used boxes can struggle with the new firmware.

  • Hey poyntzj, thank you for reaching out and we are sorry to hear you are having some 360 issues.

Has any of the advice helped here at all?
